Developmental Delay

Children may develop skills at different times. Some milestones may come sooner or later. Most of these delays are inconsequential. Some you may want to have assessed by a professional.

The four major areas of developmental delays are:

  • Cognitive
  • Sensorimotor
  • Speech and language
  • Socioemotional delays

These delays can be addressed by a single therapy or combination of therapies:

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is often helpful for children with delays in gross motor skills.

Occupational Therapy

This is helpful for motor skills, sensory processing and self-help issues.
